German, like English, does have a future tense, although in German it is not used as often as teh present tense to express future time. The future tense in German may be used to express intention.

Wir weren unsere Freunde einladen. We will invite our friends.
Jutta wird es allein machen. Jutta will do it alone.

In addition to expressing intention, the future tense may be used to express an assumption (present probability) when it is used with adverbs such as wohl, sicher, or schon.

In both English and German the future tense is a compound tense. Auf Deutsch, the future tense is also a verb phrase and consists of a form of werden plus an infinitive in final position.

Der Gewerkschaftsführer eklärt, was die gewerkschaft mit dem Management besprechen wird. Sagen Sie die Sätze noch einmal im Futur.

e.g. Wir verdienen bestimmt mehr. --> Wir werden bestimmt mehr verdienen.

1. Wir arbeiten wohl 38 Stunden die Woche. Wir werden wohl 38 Stunden die Woche arbeiten.
2. Bei Krankheit zahlt die Firma ja weiter. Bei Krankheit wird die Firma ja weiter zahlen.
3. Wir bekommen ja sechs Wochen bezahlten Urlaub. Wir werden ja sechs Wochen bezahlten Urlaub.
4. Der Arbeitstag fängt wohl um halb acht an. Der Arbeitstag wird wohl um halb acht anfangen. (an fangen?)
5. Das Arbeitsklima wird doch besser. Das Arbeitsklima wird doch besser werden.
6. Wir streiken bestimmt nicht. Wir werden bestimmt nicht streiken.

Okay, so apparently there's some hate going around, blah blah bitchcakes, not getting into it but through all of this I did get an amazingly cracky and awesome idea for future fics. My to-write list is ridiculous, but at some point I need to remember that I meant to do Jacqueline Carey in the style of Stephen King. Or Stephen King in the style of ... I don't know, William Faulkner. Sherlock Holmes in the style of Terry Pratchett. Though I wouldn't bet that Terry Pratchett hasn't covered that one. Something. It's a challenge to myself!

I need to just not say words when it comes to the quality of my language acumen. Saying words is like tempting fate, every time I do something happens to remind me that either no, I'm not as good as I said or no, I'm not as bad as I thought. Stupid Murphy machines.

I should get back to work. I really do have a pile of work to do today, most of it fortunately that can be done around my desk area so I can work on the blog stuff in bits and pieces while I do that, but oh dear lord it's going to be a jungle of a day. Definitely a one thing at a time, take your time, be careful type of day. And I need to remember I have a dentist appointment tomorrow. Don' wanna. Even for a cleaning, don' wanna. Oh well.
