Looking at the texture of that cheese spread I think I overdid it on the cranberry goop. Oh darn. So I'll keep it chilled and when I go to the grocery in a few days I'll get more mascarpone and cream cheese and there will be more cheese ball dip thing. Still tastes pretty good though, upon dipping in a test cracker.

Blergh. I'm way behind on Inktober but not, apparently, behind on writing so much since right now I'm supposed to be prepping for Nanowrimo and working on Lifestyles synopses and Long Road. (Note to self: The thing you're looking for about tracing over existing maps? Is here. Which isn't the worst thing in the world. And then, obviously, finishing Starlight and Boon Doggie and maybe outlining The Fae After Tomorrow so I can get to work on it after I recover from Nano. That works as a plan for the rest of the month. I still don't know if I put up the schedule on Patreon but I guess it's a little late for that? Argh. Maybe not, there's only two patrons on that level.

We had a couple of days after we'd put the plants up of Mikey not throwing up but now he's back to throwing up roughly once every 24 hours again and ugh. I don't know. I'm a little worried. I'm a lot anxious but all his other signs are pretty good, the only other test we could run would be an ultrasound to see if something major is wrong. And otherwise it might just be an irritable digestive tract or something, but he won't bloody eat the food for sensitive kitty tummies. Well, he'll eat the dry food well enough, but definitely not the wet. I just don't know. Mikey why must you be so difficult.

(Mikey shrugs and scampers around the house yowling because his energy and every other function is fine, it's just this vomiting thing. Not hairballs and not bolting his food too fast, both of which he's done before but then we knew why.)

I feel a discontent in my head. Not sure why. I'm on time with my writing, the house isn't completely filthy and we're slowly figuring out all the longer term places to put things so half the mess isn't shuffling things from place to place. Work was quiet and not annoying. So what is this? Is this PMS? Current events? Which it bloody well could be. Impending dealing with the Healthcare Marketplace? (Oh god.) Feh. I blame Hamlet.

I don't want to give you unwanted advice, but if they haven't thought of food allergies at the vet, maybe they should. Our Nuit was vomiting regularly for no apparent reason, and after trying her on one of the Strange Protein foods (rabbit, venison, duck, I forget, but it came with green peas) she promptly stopped vomiting. The downside of this is that those foods are pricy and all the other downstairs cats have to eat it too because otherwise it is too much struggle. Fortunately they like it all right.

They aren't really called Strange Protein foods. I can't recall what they are actually named, but the idea is to get away from proteins the cat has been eating and try something the cat probably hasn't been exposed to before.

The PR-whatever things that have no clear name on the label and you tell the protein apart by the color? I share your grumbling, my ridiculous cat kept having issues at the opposite end of her digestive tract and FINALLY she agreed both that rabbit is food and that it doesn't upset her tummy.

(She is very certain that all fowl is Not Actually Food What Is This Mess. I don't even. Cats.)

I think the prescription food is like that. We eventually switched to the Natural Balance whatever-and-green-peas because while still pricy it is less so.

Fortunately Nu thinks everything is food. Naomi, however, is a bird cat and won't try anything not made of bird. So I guess maybe the Strange Protein must be duck.

I am glad your ridiculous cat got her food sorted out. Ridiculous cats are so often the best, aside from the periodic WTF annoyances.

That was on the list! Roughly after we ruled out virus, X-ray visible obstructions and anything in the blood panel the next was the hydrolized food, and then single protein foods I think was how she described it. Fortunately the cats are used to splitting one small tin of wet food among six cats in the morning, unfortunately I have no idea what to do about the kibble, which they're used to having out. I really hope he's not allergic to that, although we can change up various forms of kibble I suppose.

Anyway, now it's down to food journals if it's not the plants or anything detectably more serious I guess.

The kibble's always being out is why everybody is eating the Strange Protein. Neither Nu nor Nammi will eat at all if you shut them in a room with the food. They just yell and sulk.

... Come to think of it I wonder if that's why Mikey wasn't eating the hydrolized wet, because we locked him in away from the others. Possibly if we had him take turns, because if we aren't careful with Fancy Cat Logistics he'll go after the others' food too. And then he'll end up yarking it back up again because he's always been convinced he's starving and needs to bolt everything in sight. Ridiculous creature.

I'll mention that to the boy, though, see if he'll eat if we lock him in the room while the rest of the cats eat, and then bring him out with only the special wet food available to him.

I hope it works. Cat psychology is so darn INDIVIDUAL.

We too have cats who think they are starving all the time; fortunately they don't live in the same part of the house as the cats who have to have their kibble out at all times. We rejected so many houses because we wouldn't be able to separate various groups of cats. It wasn't even the same cats then.
