[Fic] Long Way Home

Title: Long Way Home
Fandom: The Covenant
Characters: Caleb, Pogue
Prompt: Home
Word Count: 1,070
Rating: PG
Summary: Caleb leaves a disturbing message and Pogue goes flying home to take care of him. Written for [livejournal.com profile] lover100

Pogue went flying down the highway at speeds that would have killed someone without his reflexes. He should have been worrying about the police, but right now he was more worried about what was going on in Ipswich. Caleb's message hadn't sounded all that urgent, but if there was anyone in their group who knew how much Caleb kept things inside, it was him.

What did that mean, anyway? He knew Evelyn had been sick, but if she had finally… well, Caleb would have said. Wouldn't he?

Maybe he was just worrying over nothing. Yeah. Pogue was reading too much into things, he did that sometimes. It was a danger when you were with someone who kept everything inside all the damn time, and they'd talked about that more than once. Mostly just in the context of quiet concerns and some joking, though. They saved the arguments for who was using and how much.

Oh god. Maybe that was the problem, not Evelyn but Reid. Maybe Reid had backslid into his casual habits, started using again. Only it would be worse now that he was a logging truck.

[Fic] King of Wands

Title: King of Wands
Fandom: The Covenant
Characters: Reid, Caleb
Word Count: 2,600
Rating: PG-13 for swearing
Summary: Reid and Caleb start a long overdue series of conversations.

Reid shivered almost all the time, these days. Like he was cold, or scared. He hunched his shoulders, kept his hands curled in front of him with the tail end of one hood-pull playing between his fingers. His face was pale, his eyes had gone panda somewhere around Wednesday. His lips were chapped, nails ragged. He was starting to lose weight.

It had been a week since Chase willed him his power. He figured he was coping pretty well.

He hadn't been using. Not as much as everyone else had expected, anyway, which was both comforting and depressing. Everyone thinking he was going to cave, burn himself out? Not helpful. But what else were they going to think, when he'd suddenly tripled what he had? Even he was surprised he hadn't given in and done something about it.

He floated around from Pogue's house to Caleb's to Tyler's. Mostly he was at Caleb's. Evelyn didn't mind and he couldn't face his father right now. No one had asked why he wasn't going home yet. He was pretty sure his father knew anyway.

"Hey."

[Fic] Tears in Rain

Title: Tears in Rain
Fandom: The Covenant
Characters: William Danvers, Richard Parry
Word Count: 1,650
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Scenes and memories long forgotten.

"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.
Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion...
I've watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the
Tanhauser Gate. All those moments will be lost
in time like tears in rain."
-- Roy Batty, Blade Runner

They were solving the world's problems the same way they always did, over two bottle of beer each and a joint passed between them. While the rest of the house was decorated in the kind of ostentation only Old Money could bring, the den was a haven of bachelor carelessness. Videotapes, a bottle of scotch, books and papers scattered all over the desk. There was a well-loved couch on the wall, currently occupied by two very relaxed young men.

William Danvers was lounging with his head on his friend's lap, staring at the ceiling and tracing rings in the air with the smoke. They had fallen silent, not that that mattered. They were as comfortable in silence as they were in conversation.

"Hey, pass that over. You're letting it burn down."

He reached up and passed it to Richard Parry, fingertips brushing unnecessarily but with habit. It made the other man smile.

[Fic] Full of Grace

Title: Full of Grace
Fandom: The Covenant
Characters: Sarah
Word Count: 1,379
Rating: PG
Summary: Sarah's at Harvard, and discovers something she would never have expected.

Sarah wouldn't have seen them except that quickest way to her sorority was behind the library and through the President's parking lot, and to do that you had to cross a stretch of woods. It was a popular place to get away when you wanted to study outside but didn't want the clamor of the parks, to hide and make out with your sweetheart, to hold some kind of deep dark secret hazing rituals for the Greek societies or other clubs. She wasn't surprised to occasionally have to step over someone or look away.

She was a little more surprised when she looked away and then realized who she had been glancing at. Sarah bit her lip and tried to convince herself that she hadn't seen what she'd just thought she'd seen.

Two steps back put a sapling between her and the kissing couple, not exactly cover but at least enough to block their direct line of sight if they heard her. If she kept very still, they probably wouldn't be able to tell who she was. A very good thing, since she thought she recognized them. Both of them.

[Fic] Ten of Swords

Title: Ten of Swords
Fandom: The Covenant
Characters: Reid, Pogue, Caleb, Tyler, Evelyn
Word Count: 2,003
Rating: PG-13
Summary: The boys huddle together after Chase wills Reid his power.

Pogue was the first one there, digging ruts into the ground with his bike and almost laying it down as he stopped. He hopped off, feet moving awkward and too slow for his worry, pulling off his helmet and dropping it in the leaves as he knelt by his friend.

"Reid."

He'd never seen him like this. Never. Tears and hoarse almost-screams and hitting what had to be Chase, face down in the mud. It was unsettling from the start.

"Reid, man, he's dead. Come on." He pulled him up and it wasn't until he did that he realized Reid had been using the whole time. Branches that moved out of synch with the wind. Leaves sliding along the ground with the movements of non-existent snakes. Power rippled along his arms and shoved at him, pushing him away and pulling him closer at the same time. "Reid! Stoppit, man!"

"I can't!"

Pogue braced himself, fought his way to Reid and grabbed him by the shoulders, shaking him as gently as he could. "Reid, you have to stop. You have to stop."

[Fic] You Oughta Be In Pictures

Title: You Oughta Be In Pictures (1/?)
Fandom: The Covenant
Characters: Chase
Word Count: 2,454 (4,607 total)
Rating: NC-17
Summary: Chase dabbles in a pornography career.
A/N: I have no idea where I'm going with this. This is what I get for watching History of Porn while writing Chase Collins fanfic.

"Hey, you wanna meet?"

"Sure. When do you get off work?"

"We wrap about six today, I think. Might run a little late, but you wanna catch dinner around seven?"

Chase smiled into the mirror. "Seven sounds great."

He was still sore from last night. Spent twenty minutes in the shower, just stretching under the hot water and working out aching muscles, ignoring the ache he didn't know how to do anything about. His hands slid through the soap and over his chest, shoulders, arms. Down his thighs. His chest moved slow, everything very controlled. For a second he was eighteen again, felt like it, no arthritis and no muscle fatigue, no mental deterioration.

There was a part of him that sometimes speculated, late at night when he couldn't sleep and occupied himself watching the clock tick down, that maybe it wasn't premature senility. That maybe the mental acuity issues were just because he was bugfuck insane.

Not now.

[Fic] You Oughta Be In Pictures

Title: You Oughta Be In Pictures (Prologue)
Fandom: The Covenant
Characters: Chase
Word Count: 2,153
Rating: NC-17 for sexual content
Summary: Chase meets a guy and dabbles in a porn career.
A/N: I blame this entirely on the fact that I was talking about Chase while listening to The History of Pornography on the Hitler and Sex History Channel

It started after he'd picked the other guy up in the bar, or maybe the other guy had picked him up, he wasn't sure. He wasn't even sure what the other guy's name was, Charles or Carl or something stupid like that. They'd been talking, and he'd invited the guy back to his apartment, never saying what either of them knew they both wanted. Or what Chuckles wanted. Chase was just curious, and kind of bored.

Chuckles had a hot mouth that kept wanting to kiss him, and Chase allowed it because the other guy's tongue in his mouth got him hard. The kiss was hard, too, fierce and brutal enthusiasm making up for what the guy lacked in skill. One hand reached around to grope his ass. One finger pressed at the seam on his jeans where he knew the guy wanted in.

Chase eventually pushed him away with a grin that was supposed to be sexual and inviting. "Hey, don't be in such a hurry."

"What, you want something…" Charlie looked down to where Chase's fingers had curled into his waistband and were starting to undo the button. "Oh, hey. I know…"

No, Chase thought. You don't know a damn thing. But I'll let you do it anyway.

[Fic] Alien Nation

Title: Alien Nation
Fandom: The Covenant
Characters: Chase
Word Count: 3,000
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Six birthdays in the life of Chase Collins. Or, a slow descent.

"Oh, I get it. Alienation."
"Alien nation?"
"No, alienation, stupid. The state of being withdrawn or disaffected from the outside world." She looked over, through the glass. "He's all alone."
-- Underground, Tales from the City

Chase Collins's thirteenth birthday ended in disappointment and a trip to the hospital when he broke down into seizures in the middle of the pool. For seventy two seconds he had even stopped breathing, prompting a spectacular rescue by his uncle and a lot of screaming from his adoptive mother. Everyone at the party was gone by the time he was loaded onto the ambulance, bundled up in a blanket. They'd all either run away or had been spirited away by their parents, who were afraid that whatever had caused the Collins boy's eyes to bleed black and his body to try to break itself apart was contagious.

He spent the night in the hospital, monitors beeping all around him and hooked up to an IV of something that he was old enough to recognize as a placebo treatment. Saline solution. It was useless, but it looked effective enough for his parents to be soothed.

Chase wasn't soothed at all. He was terrified.

[Fic] Knight of Swords

Title: Knight of Swords
Fandom: The Covenant
Characters: Reid, Chase
Word Count: 1,377 (or 1,603)
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Chase and Reid have a talk in the woods that doesn't quite end the way either of them expect. Alternate ending follows.

Reid kept his hands curled in front of him as though it would defend him from the person he was staring at, knowing better, but unable to keep the instinctive gesture from pulling his hands up and his fingers around. One hand massaging the back of the other through the cut-off gloves he wore. This was such a bad idea. Tyler was going to kick his ass.

At least there was some consolation in the fact that Chase looked like hammered shit. Maybe it was just Reid's imagination that he looked older, but he definitely looked tired. In bad shape. Nowhere near the badass he'd been when he'd first come to Spenser. It gave Reid the courage to still be standing there talking to him, for one thing. Instead of running for Tyler, or Pogue, or Caleb. Chase had been bad enough last time, and Reid still owed him for Pogue. And Caleb, whatever had happened there.

God, just the thought of it made his fingers clench again.

Chase had stopped talking a few minutes back. "What."

Everybody at the table was staring.

Rating: PG-13 for one naughty word
Summary: Pogue could spend all his life worrying and it still might not be enough.
A/N: Written for the [livejournal.com profile] libraryofwinds weekly challenge

It was at the funeral, standing around with his hands in his pockets and a leather jacket he'd have to grow into covering his bony wrists, that he first realized it. The funeral wasn't even real and Caleb was standing there looking stunned. As though he was the one who had 'died' and not his father.

It was the first time it hit them, at least, he wasn't sure if it was hitting Reid. Tyler was Tyler, nothing fazed him, nothing rattled him. Nothing connected to them, at least. Things were what they were and that was good enough for Tyler, as long as he had the protection of his boys.

But Reid's hands were curled tight around each other, held tight to his chest. Pogue couldn't remember seeing him so huddled before.

VII.
Senior Prom came with a surge of excitement that passed around them both. She seemed almost untouchable by the fluttering of all the other girls, what they would wear, who they were going with, as though such decisions had been made a long time ago and she was only now carrying them out. It was a bit disconcerting. He didn't want to be responsible for her hopes and dreams, or hear about it if he shattered them.

She laughed, once, when he looked at her with that thought in his mind and told her that she wasn't as concerned about the details as the rest of her year. She just wanted to have a good time, whether or not her dress was in the latest fashion and what sort of hairpiece to wear or what kind of corsage he would get her. It was a little uncanny how she had anticipated his thought. Nonsense, she said, he had that same terrified look that a lot of boys got when their girlfriends made unreasonable demands. Just because she was different didn't mean she didn't watch.

Underneath that was a warning. Too long with her and he was becoming complacent, becoming at ease. Just because she was different didn't mean she was stupid. He'd have to watch out for himself.

[Fic] Hold the Line

Title: Hold the Line
Fandom: The Covenant
Characters: Pogue, Caleb
Word Count: 1,500
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Pogue takes care of Caleb like a good lieutenant and a good friend. Sequel to Wrack and Ruin. Deals with adult themes and issues. Written for [livejournal.com profile] pyroblaze18's prompt.

"We will walk -- on the land
We will drink -- from the stream
We will breath -- of the air
We will live -- hold the line
Hold the line"

--Peter Gabriel

It was seven days later, and Caleb still hadn't said a word about what happened. To say that Pogue was scared might be understating things a bit.

Everyone knew something was wrong. He had shut Sarah out completely, leading to hysterics from both girls and a great deal of time spent comforting them, which was time he wasn't spent helping Caleb. Back and forth, back and forth. In the end Kate had to push him off to Caleb, after they had gotten out of the hospital and she had been reassured that her boyfriend, at least, was not much worse for the wear. She would take care of Sarah, she'd said. He would get to take care of Caleb.

If Caleb would let himself be taken care of.

Reid, Pogue, and Tyler took turns shadowing him everywhere he went. When they weren't keeping an eye on him his mother was, finally pulling out of her shell when she realized her son was in a more insidious danger than she could protect him from. They met in Pogue's dorm room, the three boys and Kate when she could get away from Sarah, pacing up and down and trying to figure out how to help him. Pogue still wouldn't tell them in words what had happened, but they knew it was bad.

How bad, even Pogue didn't know. But he'd seen what was left. The remains of cloth and the blood and sweat and he knew the possibilities. Hadn't had it happen to himself, yet, but there were people who'd said it was only a matter of time. Of course, these were people who didn't know about power. But when it was Chase it was a level playing field, they both had power.

It frightened him to think about it. Terrified him, to think about what Caleb would be like now, how he would deal with it. And he still didn't know what to do.

The wind was cold on the Marblehead cliffs, even with the leather jacket and leather-covered jeans. He kept his hands in his pockets and his eyes on Caleb's back, as though if he took his eyes off him for a moment the other boy would go leaping off the cliff and he would never see him again.

The idea made him close his eyes and swallow back the sobs or screams. One of the two. Life had been so up and down. He'd fought back more upset in the past week than he'd had in the months following Chase's first attack.

[Fic] The Wheel (2/3)

Title: The Wheel (2/3)
Fandom: The Covenant
Characters: Chase
Word Count: 3,600+
Rating: PG
Summary: Chase, now in another school, meets a young witch and learns that his actions have a price that has nothing to do with his power, and everything to do with how the wheel turns.

IV.
He spent the next couple of weeks watching her after that, curious what sort of girl would stand up to him. His reputation in the school was a far cry from the malicious, powerful bastard he probably was to Spenser students by now, but even so he wasn't the sort of person a girl approached. At least, he hadn't thought he'd been.

But now that he was watching her he wondered if she was the sort of girl that a boy would approach, after all. She spoke up in class and the teachers seemed to favor her, but none of the students paid her any attention. When they spoke to her they were polite, distant, and ended the conversation as soon as they could without making it obvious that they were running away. He watched as the flicker of pain crossed her face before she turned away as well.

And that was another remarkable thing. Everything she felt seemed to cross her face as though she didn't need to keep her thoughts or feelings a secret. As though she had nothing to hide. In a high school, especially a boarding school, that was unthinkable. Unheard of. For Chase, it was amazing. It was a buffet of possibilities, each one more delightful than the last, until at the end of two weeks he was practically drooling to approach her, seduce her, and break her. She was so damn easy.

Didn't mean he wasn't going to be careful. Didn't mean he wasn't going to take his time.

[Nano] The Covenant

Title: The Covenant
Fandom: The Covenant
Characters: All
Word Count: 673
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Four have the power. One will stop at nothing to possess it.
Disclaimer: I don't own the rights to the story, this is not the official novelisation. This is just my version.

Freedom was sliding out of the air quicker than the warmth, and Caleb could feel the plans of everyone around him pressing down on his shoulders like a weight. It was the last hurrah before the last year of high school, a party that he was only going to because his best friend had talked him into it, when he'd rather just stay in and rest before the academic pressure was on. College applications, waiting, early decision, more waiting, trying to figure out who was going to take care of his mother while he was gone. The family caretaker, Gorman, was about as comforting as a headstone. And he thought he was the only one worrying about college, too. It was disheartening.

Pogue was the only one who seemed to notice something was wrong as they stood on the edge of the Marblehead cliffs, hands in their pockets, shoulders hunched against the wind. He gave Caleb a look, then stared back over the edge with a manic grin that said he was thinking about jumping.

Tyler didn't say anything. But when it was just the three of them, Tyler rarely spoke first.

Gravel crunched on the ground behind them; all three boys turned.

"Where the hell have you been?" Tyler sounded a little edgy. "I was going to pick you up."

Reid smiled. It wasn't quite a grin but it was working its way there, casual confidence, the kind Caleb wished his friend didn't have so much of. "Had a thing with the parents. How's the party?"

"Don't know." Pogue looked back down over the edge again, and even if his smile had softened a bit the light in his eyes and the way his fingers danced through the air was as impatient as ever. "Just got here."

Reid went right up to the edge. Caleb took a step forward.

"Guess we'd better drop in and say hi."

It was useless to say anything. Reid was going to do what he wanted when he got in a mood like this, and most of the time what he wanted was to show off. The corona of fire slid outwards from his pupils, scorching his eyes black. He took two steps forward and plunged off the cliffs into the fog.

It was probably a good thing that nobody was watching.

"Shit, yeah…" Tyler grinned, buoyed by Reid's immunity from scolding, turned and spread his arms like some angel figure in a cheap B-movie, pushing off the cliff backwards with his heels.

He should have known better than to try and stop him. He couldn't stop Reid, and Tyler was just as bad if he followed the blonde boy's lead, but he reached out for him anyway. "Tyler…" His hand closed over air. There were times when he could just about strangle those two. Didn't they know what they were doing?

Or, maybe make that three. Pogue was too jittery, too hyperactive to sit still. Caleb felt the hand come down on his shoulder.

"Come on, Caleb." Devil's grin. "It's not like it's going to kill us."

The 'yet' was still audible, hanging in the air as he cast off and plunged down. Caleb stared after them. They were probably down by now, waiting for him. And it would take half an hour if he walked it. Did he trust them on their own? Pogue had more sense than the other two, but that wasn't enough.

It was right there, anyway, humming under his skin, begging to be used. He took a breath, stepped forward.

Felt the power clinging to him, slowing his fall, bringing him down easy if not gently. Like falling on a harness, pulled up just before the point of deadly impact. Boots hitting the ground and kicking up dirt and dust. Balance off just enough that his fingertips brushed the sparse grass as he buckled over and crouched before standing. They were standing in a loose semi-circle, watching him. He didn't say anything, just stepped up by Pogue and followed them in.

[Fic] Wrack and Ruin

Title: Wrack and Ruin
Fandom: The Covenant
Characters: Chase, Caleb, Pogue (ish)
Word Count: 2,000
Rating: R
Summary: Chase catches Caleb and Pogue on a country road and unleashes a wrath on them that even he isn't prepared for. Rated for sexual and violent material.

Chase watched them for three whole weeks before doing anything about it. He told himself it was because he was biding his time, learning their routines. The truth was he hadn't fully recovered from what the bitch-witch had done to him, whatever that was. His outward appearance still, like Dorian Gray, refused to reflect the twisted aging within. He could feel his body falling apart, dying all around him, while his face was still young and pretty. It was a peculiar kind of torture all on its own.

Prom was the worst. He got on with a small bit of glamour and watched the four of them laughing and sipping their pink champagne on ice.

They were fine. They were in control of everything.

[Fic] The Wheel (1/3)

Title: The Wheel (1/3)
Fandom: The Covenant
Characters: Chase
Word Count: 1,800+
Rating: PG
Summary: Chase, now in another school, meets a young witch and learns that his actions have a price that has nothing to do with his power, and everything to do with how the wheel turns.

I.
It was bad enough that he'd had to go into hiding because a dickless rich-boy bastard who had everything just handed to him thought he'd gotten the better of him. Insult to injury was leaving him to rot in his own decay, his own failing power. He needed a recharge from somewhere. He needed to suck someone dry, and when the need was greatest he wasn't sure if it was need or revenge that gave him the desire to have Caleb on his knees before him, begging to give it up.

He moved slower than the rest of them down the halls and across the quad when the bells went, an exaggerated swagger that hid a tendency to get out of breath too quickly. Between that and the arthritic clench to his hands he was becoming more and more infuriated by Caleb's betrayal, daily. That power should be his. He should be young, healthy, alive. Not decaying in his grave and yet still walking around.

He should be all kinds of things that he wasn't, and maybe if he thought about it it went beyond dying, not that he wanted to think that word, dying. Even decaying was better than that. But it went beyond that, it was him being on the outside when everyone else was in that stupid little club. It was him, the lone outsider, the straggler, being punished for something that some jackass did centuries ago. Growing up in terror, in fury, punished for something he'd never done. And now he was under a death sentence for someone else's crime and it wasn't his fault. Goddammit. It wasn't his fault.

His hands curled into fists. It hurt, but not as much as the fact that he was totally alone in the world and that burned him so bad. He wanted to pound Caleb into the dirt for that. It was all fucking Caleb's fault. Caleb and Pogue, who he'd loathed from the first dirty look the long-haired boy had given him. Pogue, who had everything he could have wanted. It made him stop, sharp points of pain stabbing into his chest and into his feet, pinning him there. He had to remember how to breathe and walk all over again. Goddamn them, anyway. All he ever wanted was to live. To keep going. Why the fuck would they deny him that? What was so wrong with that?

A familiar fall of blonde hair knocked into his shoulder and for the first crucial seconds he was too startled to receive her startled apology. She flashed him a smile and was gone.

[Fic] Blister

Title: Blister
Fandom: The Covenant
Characters: Chase
Word Count: 500
Rating: PG-13
Summary: The last hours of Chase Collins
A/N: Contains potentially disturbing material.

"Every mother is a whore
Every father is a war
Hallelujah
Any port in a storm
Take any road that gets you home
Hallelujah"

-- Memento

It was two weeks before college graduation when the first outward signs of use started to creep over Chase's body. One after another, he was collecting commentary about how tired he looked, had he been hitting the drugs too hard, the booze, people wondering what secret parties he'd been to because he'd always seemed like a sensible guy. Not that they knew where he wandered off to the few weeks he skipped school and just disappeared for a few days. He could be wholesome and sensible only most of the time.

He was over the edge. Teetered on it for years, had finally fallen off. He could barely move his hands without pain. His knees didn't work. He'd made it to college on money alone, no swim scholarship for him. Hadn't been near the pool in three years.

His mind burned with hate and revenge and senility that was turning his thoughts into sponge. Age-related dementia in a twenty two year old was ridiculous, they diagnosed him with late-onset ADD and pumped him full of drugs that didn't work. He took them anyway, desperate for some sort of relief and they did change his condition, a lateral slide from bad to bad. He was throwing up from some kind of stomach ailment he didn't want to look up on WebMD and if he heard "you're too young for this" from another doctor he was going to scream.

Caleb was no help. Ever since the spring he'd refused to talk to Chase, attacking him on sight, and while his mind was clear on why that might be the rest of him couldn't understand why Caleb hated him so damn much. They were just the same. They were the same. And he was in trouble, and shouldn't Caleb at least feel some kind of sympathy for the devil? It never worked. The second time Caleb and Pogue had broken three of his ribs and left him spitting up blood in the woods. There hadn't been a third time.

Chase went back to the Marblehead cliffs and stared down. Serve them right to find him here, he thought with a brain too tired to be vicious about it. It would serve them right to see him broken even if he didn't think they'd know what it was like, or be able to understand what he wanted to throttle them into understanding.

He spread his arms open wide and called wind just to feel it against his back. He'd pulled his shirt off a few minutes earlier and it blew off the cliff in a dead flutter. The wind was cold. The air was wet, droplets sliding down his skin behind his waistband. It felt good. Like tears. Like mourning. They were hot down his cheeks as he ignored them and took a step forward. Another.

Chase toppled into the wind and felt the power singing through his brittle veins. He soared all the way down. Cried with relief. He just wanted to go home.

[Fic] Boys of Summer

Title: Boys of Summer
Fandom: The Covenant
Characters: Pogue, Reid
Word Count: 1,995 words
Rating: NC-17
Summary: Smut. Almost pure smut. With a little bit of plot behind it.

The first time Reid and Pogue got together was also the last, although they didn't know it at the time. It wasn't supposed to be getting together in a relationship kind of a way, anyway. They were restless, they were sixteen, and they were boys. Sex had to happen at some point, and they weren't getting any from the girls around them.

It had started two years ago at summer camp, the strange hour close to evening when everything seemed too much effort to expend and they'd pried loose from Gorman's bony fingers. Caleb was off somewhere, they didn't know where, and Pogue had thought Reid was off getting Tyler into trouble. He'd thought he had the small cabin all to himself, and was stretched out on the bunk indulging in the warm and sweaty air.

Reid banged the door open and caught him just as things were getting interesting. Caught between embarrassed fury and the sudden thought that those surprise-parted lips would look really good somewhere else, Pogue just stared.

'Dude.' )
