Okay, repeating some of from last time for the sake of remembering. So, self, when you look back on this, remember that that's why we have two identical lessons in a row.

Is maith le Síle ceol. - Sheila likes music.
Ní maith le Síle ceol. - Sheila doesn't like music.
An maith le Síle ceol? - Does Sheila like music?
Nach maith le Síle ceol? - Doesn't Sheila like music?

Is breá liom é. I love it.
Is fuath liom é. I hate it.

Remember that as there is no 'yes' or 'no' in Irish, a reply repeats or echoes part of the qustion.

An maith le Síle ceol? Is maith. or Ní maith.
An maith leat spórt? Is maith, cinnte. Yes, indeed. Ní maith, in aon chor. No, not at all.

An maith leat spórt? Is breá liom é.
Is breá liom siúl. I love walking.
Is breá liom peil. I love football.
Is breá liom ceol. I love music.

Taitníonn le (pleases)
This verb is often used to mean 'likes'
Taitníonn ceol le Máire. Music pleases Máire.
Is maith léi ceol. She likes music.
Taitníonn spórt go mór liom. I like sports a lot. (go mór - greatly)
Is maith liom spórt. I like sport.
Ní thaitníonn spórt liom. I don't like sport.

Is [verb] maith [adjective/good] le [preposition/with] Sile [proper noun/Sheila] ceol [noun/music]

Remember the preposition 'le' means 'with': liom is a personal form.
liom / with me
leat / with you
leis / with him
léi / with her
linn / with us
libh / with you
leo / with them

Hey look! We're back in the languages routine again. At least sort of, New Year's will undoubtedly fuck that up a bit. But hopefully not too much.

Well, the craft room has started to be clean, some of the boxes made it up there. We got my vanity up to the bedroom and sort of set up except for one screw that's bent all to hell, so we have to get a replacement at Home Depot. I'm sure we did some other stuff... the broccoli finally got repotted? We moved some things out to the trash pile, cleared out that patio thing the boy calls the sun porch, which, hey, as good a name as any. Swept up, oh! Moved a bookshelf, too.

I've also been mainlining that mediocre-to-outright-crappy BBC Robin Hood, which is purely Centralia's fault. Though I am sort of relieved to know that I'm not the only one who was wondering what was up with the utterly bipolar relationship between Guy of Guisborne and Marian. She advocates for him, okay, sure, he treats/courts her with about as much gentility as he seems to know how, sure. He lies to her at the end to get her to the altar (long story), not up to that point mind you, just at the very end, and then when in media res she punches him in the face with his own ring and runs out the chapel door, okay, I can see a) why she'd do that and b) why that'd sting his pride, which is all he seems to cling to as the only thing he has. (And now of course I want to write all the fic involve beating him int he face with how pride depends on other people and honor depends on yourself and you have no honor because you hate yourself and so on and so forth.) But THEN in second season SHE'S courting HIM and, okay, I get flirting because you're a prisoner in the castle and you're trying to get information out of this guy?

BUT HE BURNED DOWN HER HOME. AND MADE HER GROVEL. AND THREATENED HER AND HER FATHER. AND NOW SHE ACTUALLY SEEMS TO BE FLIRTING WITH HIM/TRYING TO SOOTHE AND RESCUE HIM FOR REAL? Ohmyfuckinggod. I want to slap the writers with fish. Or throw fish at them. And not in the nice way like Centralia did. FuckSAKE. Apparently he then decided, okay, he really is in love with her, it might inspire him to be a better person... and then Guisborne runs her through. At which point I'm pretty sure he facewalled through some set pieces. I WOULD HAVE.

Ahem. I'm getting residual bounce off [personal profile] lireavue as far as TSO goes, it's kind of hilarious. For the newcomers, Trans-Siberian Orchestra is a yearly tradition with us, we go to their Christmas concert and cry like babies (hungry angry babies) and make our head, neck, and shoulders ache with headbanging and then go drool over the band and get our programs signed and our guitar picks afterwards. I've been doing it for about ten years now, every Christmas Tour plus the Beethovan one, once. It would have been more than once but time and money didn't permit. And [personal profile] lireavue's concert was last night, because she catches TSO west and I catch TSO east. And then we babble at each other more than compare notes and now I have residual bounce. Oops.

Monday. Yay Monday. Although there isn't much going on today, UPS I don't think will be picking up and I'm pretty sure they won't be dropping off anything. I don't see anything on the radar, at least. Which means most of the traffic will be foot traffic, and then tomorrow a day off and more unpacking and cleaning what fun! And possibly Hobbit again because DAMN YOU, CENTRALIA.
